Being a native Houstonian I felt called to intercede for my beloved city. For years, with a group of other prayer warriors we’ve been praying for revival and change in a city that felt like it was being taken over by the enemy. The Lord works in mysterious ways because on December 8th I went to my computer and began to write what he ask me to. The Lord began to show me the importance of the major events in Houston and what they mean. We never know how God is going to answer prayer, but what I do know is that he always does.
On December 8th, 2017 I woke up to a cold house and my daughter yelling, “Mommy it’s snowing, I’m going outside to make a snowman,” I giggled to myself thinking this is my 14 year old. As I ponder her happiness about snow I heard the Lord speak to my heart “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow” PS 51:7. Immediately I could see the year pass through my mind and I have felt the purging and the washing of the Lord. In that sweet voice I heard the Holy Spirit say “count the days when Harvey hit Texas to the Houston Astro’s winning the World Series to today, the day it snowed in Houston.” In amazement I couldn’t believe what happen in Houston in such a short amount of time.
Before I tell you that, I remember at the very beginning of 2017 I prophesied with great joy “we will have the VICTORY this year!” On the phone with a group of intercessors they all joined in yelling with excitement “Yes, Victory!” Not thinking, silly me that a battle must happen in order to have a victory. No one thinks what has to happen before, after you prophesy a thing. Boy, has 2017 been full of battles, heartaches, and sufferings. But God, WE GOT THE VICTORY!
There is a spiritual meaning to the number 17 (2017) “overcoming the enemy” and “complete victory.” God overcame the sins of rebellion when he began to flood the earth through rain on the 17th of the second Hebrew month. Noah’s ark rested on the mountains of Ararat on the 17th of the seventh month Gen 8:4. Jesus Christ had complete victory over death and the grave when God resurrected him on Nisan 17th. This year was a very important year to overcome YOU, by your own death, a resurrection and a victory. I’ve come to realize walking with the Lord that’s what it’s all about, a constant death and resurrection of oneself. It’s thrilling when God choses you for something big and amazing, but before that it all come back you. Overcoming you, to be made in the image of Jesus, I can say with confidence has been the hardest thing to overcome… well it has been for me. God used a flood to overcome the sin of rebellion in man. Thank you Jesus he didn’t forget Houston, one city among many. Harvey was heart breaking to experience but chosen to overcome, be cleanse and made white as snow. God who’s in control of this great big world remembered Houston, what a good God we serve.
Now Harvey hit Texas on August 25th and now called the “500 year flood” covered Houston. Experts estimate that there’s a 1-in-500 (0.2 percent) chance a flood this bad will strike. Five hundred signifies the whole from one end to the other, thus what is full. “He measured outside the house, or temple, on the eastern quarter, five hundred reeds round about; on the northern quarter five hundred reeds round about; on the southern quarter five hundred reed; and on the quarter of the sea five hundred reeds. Its wall round about; the length five hundred reeds, and the breadth five hundred reeds; to distinguish between that which was holy and that which was profane” Ezek. 42:15-20. Five hundred signifies the whole in the complex, or everything holy from one end to the other, what is full, distinguished between what was holy and what was profane. Has God not been distinguishing in you this year what is holy and what is propane? The line in the sand was drawn this year more than any other to what is holy and what’s not. Changes in our lives have caused us to choose a side. “…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15. Not only changes but testing, challenges and sufferings too have caused us to choose a side. Stay in fear or trust God and move forward. Harvey sure did that.
August 25th of the flood through Nov 1st the Houston Astros winning the World Series is 68 days. Houston had to battle for 7 (completeness, wholeness) days and finally got the victory. Seven days of anxious excitement watching the Astros battle for ever win was exhilarating and exhausting, the not knowing. Ever felt like that when in a battle not knowing the outcome? Father used a game like ball base, a team of people working together to win and overcome and the outcome was good. The body of Christ must work to together to win, and Houston working together through the flood and this game shows it can happen, Unity! I hear the Lord speak “Houston will unify be hide the banner of Jesus Christ, revival will flood the streets and it will be filled with my glory. I will pour out my spirit, Houston will win, for I am the prize and you will have the victory.” The number 68 means the mercy of God, and oh my did Houston need that. It also means victorious disciples, coincidence? The word battle is in the bible 68 times, sounds like Father is going to make sure that this year we have the victory “for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.” Deuteronomy 20:4 God is in everything. Can we agree after the flood and this Astro’s win redemption was given to Houston and we got the victory? The flood did not destroy us, it redeemed us and we resurrected, Amen.
The day of snow today December 8th new beginnings. It’s in the air… CHANGE. It’s almost tangible, you can smell it. The win of the Houston Astros to today is 37 days. The meaning of 37 itself mean Christ, beloved son and prophet. God could have chosen any day for Houston to snow, but He chose this day. He reveals himself in many ways. Brothers and sisters you are not forgotten, and you are not alone. The old has been wash away by snow and the new is here. The Lord brought up in my mind “dry bones” as I started typing this. No knowing what chapter in Ezekiel that’s in to my surprise, and thinking to myself only God it’s 37. It shows the changes in Israel’s spiritual condition as the Lord restores life into the nation. “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.”’” Ezekiel 37:4-6. Did God not speak to the dry bones in Houston, and in your own life? Did God not say you will live and not die? Speak to the dry dead bones in your situation and watch God bring life to it. This is the time for the dove has come back to the ark, and He brings life. As we enter into the final days of 2017 I do see life forming from the places that were once dead. I see the fire of God put flames in places that were once dormant, closed off, and buried. Now we see and have hope, joy, and life in those areas.
The total of days from Harvey to Houston’s snow day is 105. Deliverance of the soul represents the number 105. Have we not felt the healing hand of God setting us free from our enter demons and issues of life this year? It also references the glory of the resurrection after the test of Calvary. There’s always a testing of our faith and trust in God when healing, change, or deliverance comes. Freedom, in my option is easy, it’s maintaining it and living in that new uncomfortable, different place that’s hard. That’s what we are in now, the unknown an unpleasant place. Have you said lately what’s next, when Lord is it my time, when will I break free from this, when Lord, when???
What does all this mean? 2017 the pain, suffering, changes, and challenges were vital for our 2018. We have been stretched spiritually, mentally, financially, and physically. For me, more so than any other year, but God was in every part. He loves to show his children whether it be through a storm, a game, or snow He’s right here with us. This was not only a corporate cleansing, and victorious win for Houston but a personal one. I don’t know what’s in store for us in 2018, but this I do know it will be good. We have come out of the flood the dove can back and brought life, and the NEW. Dreams that were dead or you though weren’t for you are now possible. We are entering into the fat of the land and the wealth of God, this is spiritually and naturally. The promises that the Father placed in your heart at the time you were conceived in your mother’s womb will began to prosper and made manifest. Do you not believe the One that says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33. Family my hope is you are encouraged and know that God is in the mist of you. Finish this year strong and faithful ready to walk into your promise land. Because the time is NOW! What you have gone through is not in vain you will reap what you have sown.
My prayer for you: “Oh, that God would bless you indeed, and enlarge your territory, that God’s hand would be with you, and that God would keep you from evil, that you may not cause pain!” So God granted that requested. 1 Chronicles 4:9-10
Whatever territory you gained in this last season will not be half of what Father is releasing in the 2018 season. May the Lord bless you all.
